When a regional distributor began construction of their 30,000 sq. ft. storage facility, they approached us to design a lighting system that would not only meet today’s operational needs but also remain efficient, scalable, and reliable for years to come. Since it was a new facility, the advantage was that we could integrate lighting design right from the planning stage—ensuring every detail was optimized before operations began.

Our first step was to study the architectural layout, ceiling heights, and planned racking system. Storage facilities often face issues with dark aisles, uneven brightness, and glare, especially when high shelves block light distribution. To overcome this, we designed a system using LED high-bay fixtures with customized beam angles, ensuring uniform illumination across every aisle and corner.

Safety and efficiency were key priorities. Forklift operators needed clear visibility for smooth navigation, while warehouse staff required well-lit shelving to avoid errors in stock handling. We ensured lux levels met industry standards for storage operations, with additional focus lighting in loading/unloading bays where precision is critical.

To make the system more intelligent, we introduced smart controls with motion sensors and zone-based dimming. This meant that lighting in less active areas automatically dimmed, while active zones remained brightly lit—saving energy without compromising safety. The design also allowed future scalability, so if the facility expanded, the lighting system could adapt easily without major modifications.

The outcomes after installation were impressive:

Consistent, glare-free lighting improved worker comfort and reduced fatigue.

Energy consumption dropped by nearly 40% compared to traditional warehouse lighting systems.

Operations became more efficient as staff could quickly locate, move, and manage inventory under clear and uniform light.

Maintenance requirements were drastically reduced, thanks to the long lifespan of LED fixtures.

The client appreciated not only the performance but also the future-readiness of the system. With sustainability being a growing focus, the new facility’s lighting setup aligned perfectly with their environmental goals while keeping operational costs under control.

This project is a strong example of how lighting is more than just illumination—when designed thoughtfully, it becomes an enabler of productivity, safety, and sustainability. By working closely with the client from day one, we transformed an empty facility into a well-lit, energy-smart, and future-ready storage hub.
